Within Our Lifetime: Building Ghana’s Industrial Future
Ghana has built the dams, the roads and the schools. The missing piece is the workforce to make it all pay off.
The Story
In 1957, Ghana lit a torch. Across four republics, every era of leadership has added something to the nation: the dams, the roads, the schools, the infrastructure. But one piece has never been finished at scale, a skilled workforce that can turn all of that investment into lasting prosperity. DTI came to us with a film that had to make that gap visible, and make it feel urgent rather than academic.
The Craft
VOME handled the documentary end to end: story development, direction, cinematography and post. The film follows Constance Swaniker, who founded the Design & Technology Institute inside her own factory in 2016. Thirty-three students then. Forty-eight thousand young people trained now. One workshop floor then. A Pan-African Centre of Excellence rising at Berekuso now.
We built the film around the people the numbers describe. H.E. John Agyekum Kufuor, Former President of Ghana and Chief Patron of DTI. Alumni and the parents who backed them. Industry leaders hiring the graduates. Communities that look different because of what was learned on that factory floor.
The Impact
The film gave DTI something a brochure could not: proof, in the faces of the people it trained. It works as an invitation to those who build, who invest, and who believe Ghana’s most valuable resource is its people.
